Assurance Wireless Upgrades

alt="Assurance Wireless Compatible Phones"

Assurance Wireless Compatible Phones.  Looking for an upgrade phone?  Assurance Wireless is one of the most recognized names in free government phones.  Like every other wireless provider, certain phones are compatible with a particular cell phone company.

Also, certain phones are programmed to be used by another provider may not work even if it is the same or similar phone.  We will explore Virgin Mobile phones that are available.   These phones work with Assurance Wireless.  You can purchase assurance wireless phones at Walmart or on their website. Try the ZTE Prestige 2 for its many upgrade features.

How do I Qualify for Assurance Wireless?

First of all, everyone is not eligible for free phone service from Assurance Wireless. All assistance for the Lifeline program is given based on your gross family income. If your income is at or below the US Poverty Guidelines, you probably qualify for a free phone and service.

You may also qualify if you receive SNAP Medicaid, SSI, Section 8 Housing, Free lunch Program, etc.  Please check your state to see which benefit program makes you eligible.  You can apply on their website.  Or if you need a little assistance, you can call, and customer services can help you apply.

Finally, you can also download, print and mail, or fax your application.  Free services include 2GB of data, unlimited text messaging, and 350 talk minutes—all free and monthly.

Safelink Wireless Get 1000 Free Minutes & Unlimited Text

alt="Safelink Wireless"

SafeLink Wireless Phones.  Safelink Wireless 1,000 free minutes, Unlimited Texts, and wifi.   Lifeline phones are a government benefit that helps low-income consumers.   Lifeline works with Safelink to provide free government phones with plans to low-income families and individuals who qualify financially.  They even have a bring your own cell phone program.  Free cell phones help many disabled, have lost their jobs, work in low-wage jobs and now have access to phone providers’ essential resources.

We have come a long way with the free government phone program. When free government phones first became popular, customers were first offered 76 minutes a month.  Can you imagine 76 minutes a month?  Next, the program jumped to 150 free minutes, 250, and now some states offer 500, and now 1,000 minutes and unlimited texts.  Since 1985, the Lifeline program has provided a discount on phone service for qualifying low-income consumers.

The Working Poor

‘Working poverty’ is a real thing in America. The term was first coined during the progressive era of the 1890-the 1920s—people like Robert Hunter, Jane Addams, and W.E.B. Du Bois saw that one of the working poor’s causes is society’s unequal opportunity structure, lack of proper education, systems such as zoning, and other structures that foster poverty.  So the working poor is not a new thing.

The Lifeline Assistance program facilitates the program. Those who qualify can receive either a free residential phone service or a cell phone plan.  Through this same program, families are eligible for the discount Internet.  There have been many changes to the program, and companies are now giving more minutes and text options.

How to Qualify for a Safelink Wireless Cell Phone

Having a job does not disqualify you from receiving Lifeline Assistance.  Many hard-working people are eligible for a subsidy when the gross household income is at or below 135% of the Federal Government Poverty Standards. You may also qualify if you receive help from most federal agencies.   (Do you qualify?)  If you meet these standards, you should apply. The poverty standard varies from state to state.  Find out about Smartphone upgrades below.

Smartphones have an operating system, and smartphones are small computers.  Therefore they are excellent for students and businesses as well.  It has a better operating system, just like Android phones, Blackberry operating systems, or Windows phones.  These phones allow you to make calls, text messages, play games, download apps, watch videos, schedule appointments, and a lot more.

How Lifeline Phones Are Getting Better

When you received your first free government cell phone, do you remember how small it was?  We have had complaints about some providers that send out tiny cell phones.  If you are elderly or have vision problems, you will probably have difficulty using the phone.

Years ago, the Lifeline program started you out with 56 minutes, no internet or cameras.  Today you can receive up to 1000 free minutes, 4G, unlimited talk and texting,  Internet access, and a great camera.  Another great improvement with the free cell phone program is, you can receive the latest model cell phones and even iPhones!

Are you unemployed, been laid off, or working part-time?  You may qualify for a free government phone. A lot has been going on in the county since this new pandemic. There is no one it has not affected. People have received stimulus checks and unemployment, however, still can not afford to pay high cell phone bills. Find out how you can get a government phone, free!

I’ve Been Laid Off – Can I get a Government Phone for Free?

If you have been laid off and need a cell phone, you can apply online at any cell phone company signed up with Lifeline Assistance. There are cellular companies in every city that provide free government phones. Let’s look at where to start.  It is pretty simple to get a government phone and free monthly service.

Usually, you will qualify if you receive help from a government program, such as SNAP, WIC, SSI, or Medicaid.  However, if you have been laid off from your job and your household income is at or below the US Government Poverty Guidelines, you can apply for a phone today.

Locate a Government Cell Phone Provider when Laid Off

There are many cell phone providers to choose from such as Safelink, Qlink, True Connect, Budget Mobile, and Assurance Wireless, to name a few. Also, you will be glad to know that many phone providers now offer Smartphones and Androids!

Companies that Offer Government Smartphones

I think there are a few people who still use flip phones, but if given the opportunity people want the convenience of a Smartphone or Android. They have a number of apps that will be helpful. You can find apps to help your look for a new job, take notes, sending and receiving money, and even play games for stress relief.

Here are some of the companies you may want to consider. Access Wireless, Budget Mobile, FeelSafe, Assurance Wireless, Safelink Wireless, QLink Wireless, Wireless for Hope (previously Easy Wireless). For a full list go here.

How to Apply for a Free Phone

If you lose your phone or it breaks in the future, you can receive a replacement, for a small charge, however, you are not guaranteed to receive the same phone. So if you get a phone and you love it, be careful with it.

How do I Add Minutes to my Phone

Adding minutes will vary from company to company. Go to that company’s website and research “How to add Minutes.” You can usually purchase additional minutes directly from your provider via the internet. You can also, purchase phone cards from supermarkets and drug stores, etc.

How do I file a Complaint about my Provider?

Some providers offer excellent customer service, while some need to make improvements. Keep in mind you are receiving a free phone and free service, so providers do no hire thousands of customer care reps to resolve issues. Often you can find the information you need, but when you can not get an issue resolved contact, the USAC.
