Wireless for Hope, is a free cell phone carrier, working with the Lifeline program, to offer affordable phone service to low-income communities. If you are unemployed, disabled, or work and are low-income, you may for help. The Lifeline Assistance program, with communications partners like Wireless for Hope, help low-income individual and families stay connected with free phones and service. Free government phone service is available through the United States, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and US Territories.
Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, Puerto Rico, and West Virginia are a state where Wireless for Hope is available. Wireless for Hope, is also working with charities and other community outreaches, to provide phone services to more low-income people.
Wireless for Hope Features
Though the program does offer free phones and free minutes in most states they service; the allotted minutes are over 50% lower than provided by, major providers like Safelink Wireless. Believe it or not, when Safelink began working with Lifeline, they were offering only 76 minutes each month. They have since increased to 250 minutes. So, most likely, the same thing will happen with wireless for Hope.
The number of minutes offered by this cell phone provider will vary depending on the state. Unlimited Talk and text messaging are available in Oklahoma for $1.00 a month. Some states offer 100 minutes and text messaging for no cost. Go to the site to find out what the policy is for your state.
Applying
To apply you can download an application and mail or fax it back to the company. Be sure to submit proof of financial eligibility with your application. Once you are approved, you will receive your phone within 7 – 10 days.

- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
