Assist Wireless Lifeline Phones

Assist Wireless, is a discount cell phone provider serving Arkansas, Maryland, and Oklahoma.  Assist Wireless is a smaller Lifeline provider with plans to expand its services to nine more states in the coming year.  Though they do not offer free phone service, the charge is only $1.00, and activation fees.

Assist Wireless Cell Phones

They are offering to subsidize phone service for disadvantaged subscribers through Lifeline a federal assistance program.   Assist Wireless will be adding, California, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Texas, to their service area. You can receive a phone if you are receiving help from assistance programs, such as Section 8 housing or SNAP/Food Stamps.

You qualify for a free government phone if you participate in

  • Medicaid
  • Social Security
  • Tribal Head Start
  • Federal Public Housing Assistance
  • Veterans Benefits or Survivor’s Pension Benefits
  • Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)Tribal-
  • Administered Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)

You also Qualify if your Gross Family Income Falls at or Below the US Government Poverty Guidelines

How to Apply

To apply, go to the website, and download an application and mail or fax it back to Assist Wireless.  Program benefits:  Caller ID, Call Waiting, Three-Way Calling, Call Forwarding, and Voicemail.  New clients are eligible for a free LG Xpression Smartphone.

What to do if your Access Account is Suspended

There are a few reasons your account may be suspended.  If someone else has used your name and information to get a free phone they will suspend your service as you are only alone one phone. Your service may also be suspended if you have not recertified that you are qualified for tases benefits.  Notify the company someone else is using your name they will deactivate the phone and transfer any minutes and issue you a new phone number.

Replacement Phones

Occasionally when you receive a new government phone, it may not work properly, or not work at all.  In these cases, the phone provider will replace the phone at no cost to you.  If you lose your, damage or have your phone stolen, please contact Assist Wireless immediately, so that they can disconnect your phone.

You may apply for a new phone online and payments of credit or debit cards are accepted online.  The replacement fee of  $25 is required to get a new phone.  You also have the option of mailing in a check or money order to:
