Free Phone Service From the Government – Lifeline Phones

Free government phone service, is available to low-income individuals and families who receive assistance such as Food Stamps, WIC,  Free Lunch, and other free programs.   In today’s economy, there are many people applying for help than ever before.  Many people need a little help in choosing a government subsidized phone service.  The Lifeline program provides a discount and free phone service to those who qualify financially.  Keep in mind you, may be eligible even if you have a job!

You May Qualify Even if you Work

That’s right if you working but your gross family income is at or below 135% of the federal poverty guidelines, you can get free phone service.  Lifeline and Link Up are both programs created to help disadvantaged residents have access to both landline and cell phone services.  If you are presently unemployed, this program can help ease a little of the burden on you and your family.  We’re dedicated to locating government companies offering free phone plans in your area and compare phone plans.  We will be bringing updated news on Lifeline service and new phone companies in your area.

Do you Need Free Phone Service?

A mobile phone, is a real necessity in today’s world, especially for the sick and elderly. That is why we want to get this information out to the public!  Lifeline makes communication possible for those who are unable to afford mobile phone service. The Lifeline Assistance program, supported by the federal Universal Service Fund, make these services possible.  For years, the government and FCC have been helping disadvantaged households with discount landline service through this program.

The cell phone was not a part of the program until instituted, during the Bush administration.  So the term, “Obama phone.” is totally inaccurate in describing the program, stick.  Now that cell phones are the predominant means of communication, the program now included cell phones.

How to get a Free Cell Phone Service

  • Medicaid
  • SSI Disability
  • Food Stamps/SNAPS
  • WIC (Woman and Infant Children)
  • National School Lunch Program
  • Federal Public Housing (Section 8)
  • Supplemental Security Income SSI
  • Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
  • Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
