Every city was hit hard by the recession of 2008, and though things are much better for some,  there are still many struggling to pay bills and take care of their families. Working a full-time job does not exempt you from financial problems.

Especially when working part-time or a low-paying job. It seems like the big industries got a bailout, where the people were left on their own. A free mobile phone will not answer all your financial issues but is a great help to many.

Lifeline Assistance Program

The Lifeline Assistance program has been providing free mobile phone service to U.S. residents since 1985.  Initially, the program’s goal was to help disadvantaged living in rural areas and now support the needy in every state.  Also, the program has evolved to include a lifeline as well and home phone service.

Free government phone service is made available through the Lifeline Assistance Program to help low-income consumers gain access to phone services and all the benefits of having a phone.  Now, Kansans don’t have to worry about keeping in touch with family, reaching a boss or doctor, and most importantly, monitoring the children.

Who is Eligible for a Free Mobile Phone?

Free phones are attainable to any consumer who qualifies financially.  Individuals with a gross yearly income at or below 135% Federal Poverty guidelines are eligible unless you have had a phone in the past and charged with some fraud.  Only one phone is allowed for each family, and proof of income or enrollment in a government assistance program.  You may qualify if you receive:
